Are you a Weekend or a Weekday Warrior? Frankly, I am not sure which one is better because both often fail to incorporate adequate rest and recovery into their fitness program. Why are both rest and recovery important? So that we can experience the maximum results from our training program. Rest is simple: get at least 8 hours of sleep on a nightly basis. Recovery requires time for the various body systems -chemical hormonal, neurological, and structural- to repair themselves before being taxed again in the next workout. Chances are if you aren’t seeing performance or body composition results you could benefit from more rest and recovery programmed into your routine.
The same is often true with these warriors diet choices, with strict “dieting” during the week combined with major binges occurring throughout the weekend. As with most things in life, balance and moderation tend to set us up for the best chance for long-term success.
What type of Warrior are you? Do you find it is helping or hurting your overall fitness level?
